Status of Version 3 and ScriptFrenzy

I’ve been busy.

I’ve made a lot of progress on version 3 of Auteureist and things are beginning to wind down. Having said that, there is still a lot to test, and optimize, and debug.

There are some nice features in the rewrite. I won’t go into details here but will just say they make the app more enjoyable to use and more powerful than the previous versions.

One thing I have had to give up on is having the app sync using iCloud. I spent more time than I want to think about trying to get things working. In the end I gave up and pulled all the iCloud code out. Apple needs to fix and simplify how CoreData uses iCloud.

I, however, am not ready to give up on synching. I’m investigating some non-iCloud solutions. Hopefully, one of these will work and I will include it in the release.

April has been ScriptFrenzy month, where I write a 110 page script. ScriptFrenzy has officially shut down, but I will write on my own this April. I want to stress some of the the script and screenplay writing capabilities.

That’s it for now. I’m going to leave you with a screenshot. It shows two new features—no, you don’t win a prize for guessing what they are.

Blog Sites Have Moved

It’s time for an update.

I’ve been very busy with work and with the new version. Version 3 is coming along nicely, if slowly.

I’m still focused on importing and exporting functionality at this point. I’m working on fixing some issues with Scribd publishing and some issues with posting to Tumblr. If you want to be able to post or publish to a specific service, let me know.

Older versions of Auteureist had issues importing Scribd in that it only imported MultiMarkdown exports. This version will be more functional in that it will be able to import.scribd files more completely without the need for MultiMarkdown, although it will do that as well.

I’m still adjusting the UI as I go. The main interface is definitely more straightforward than the previous versions, but some people may still not like it. I’m trying to provide some ability to customize things a bit.

Better Final Draft importing will also be evident.

At this point I am focused more on fixing issues and adjusting things than working on new functionality. This is good, since this indicates the end of the journey is closer.

The next major milestone will be in April when I spend the month putting the app through its paces as I spend the month writing a script. This will help me test script handling.

So, that’s it.

One last item. The blogs are moving from Posterous to Tumblr. Twitter has announced that Posterous is being shut down the first of April. Update your bookmarks:
