It’s time to let you know how things are going.

I’ve made a bit of progress in the redesign of the redesign and am transitioning to using it full time. That basically means the app is relatively stable and reliable. There are still some major things to be done and tested. I am also tweaking the new design as I go.

The iOS 7 betas still have issues and making work a bit more difficult. I’m still encountering issues with the beta that make progress slower than it normally would be. Each beta released is better than the previous, but it’s still not quite ready for prime time from a developer point of view.

The to-fix list is fairly long right now, the to-do list short.

The app isn’t quite ready for alpha but it’s close. I’m still shooting for a release around November NaNoWriMo time.

I leave you with one screen shot.

Status of Version 3 and ScriptFrenzy

I’ve been busy.

I’ve made a lot of progress on version 3 of Auteureist and things are beginning to wind down. Having said that, there is still a lot to test, and optimize, and debug.

There are some nice features in the rewrite. I won’t go into details here but will just say they make the app more enjoyable to use and more powerful than the previous versions.

One thing I have had to give up on is having the app sync using iCloud. I spent more time than I want to think about trying to get things working. In the end I gave up and pulled all the iCloud code out. Apple needs to fix and simplify how CoreData uses iCloud.

I, however, am not ready to give up on synching. I’m investigating some non-iCloud solutions. Hopefully, one of these will work and I will include it in the release.

April has been ScriptFrenzy month, where I write a 110 page script. ScriptFrenzy has officially shut down, but I will write on my own this April. I want to stress some of the the script and screenplay writing capabilities.

That’s it for now. I’m going to leave you with a screenshot. It shows two new features—no, you don’t win a prize for guessing what they are.

Quick Status Update:

Just a quick note.  I was too busy writing this weekend and didn’t get a chance to post the 2.5 update to the App store.  I will get it done this coming weekend.

This is November, NaNoWriMo, so I”m busy with work and writing.

I also want to give you a quick peek at a feature new in Version 3.  A few people have been asking for this, so it will be in V3.

Here is a sneak peak.  In Auteureist version 3, you will be able to upload your writing projects to Scribd.

You can follow me as I write on my other blog:  http://archimage-writing.posterous.com/  I occasionally provide some insights into the new version that I pick in actually using the app in writing.

iOS 6 Is Coming

As you probably know Apple announced  iOS6.  It’s still under NDA (non-disclosure) so I can’t talk too much about it.  However, I can talk about Auteureist and it’s relationship to iOS6. The app works with iOS6—as does the upcoming version 3 of Auteureist.  In previous updates to iOS there were usually a fair number of things that I had to deal with in order to get the app working. In this release it’s not an issue.

Now a quick status  update.  The UI in version 3 is pretty much done.  There are still a couple of things I want to adjust and tweak.  I’m going to start on the functionality and making it all usable shortly.

Here is a sneak peek at a new feature in version 3 of Auteureist.  You’ll have a cork board display where you can arrange elements of your writing to reorder them and try different sequences.

Minor Tweak Coming

The next release will be submitted this weekend. It contains a minor graphics fix for the new iPad’s retina display. In addition there is early support for essays (including a beat sheet). This was a request. In other news here is an early look at the Version 3 Script Project Editor. Still not final.

Version 3 is progressing nicely. But, there’s lots left to do.

Yes I will be, once again, participating in ScriptFrenzy in April. No, version 3 isn’t quite ready for it.
